Required information on an invoice in Taiwan

Make sure every invoice you issue in Taiwan includes:

  • Government Uniform Invoice (GUI, 統一發票) number: two letters + 8 digits
  • Seller’s name and 8-digit business unified number (統一編號)
  • Buyer’s unified number for B2B sales (triplicate / B2B e-GUI)
  • Date of issue
  • Description, quantity and unit price of goods or services
  • Sales amount, business tax amount (shown separately for B2B) and total

Rules and tips for Taiwan

  • Registered businesses must issue Government Uniform Invoices; most now use e-GUI (電子發票) via the Ministry of Finance platform. A separate “invoice” (請款單) is a payment request and does not replace the GUI.
  • Small businesses with low monthly sales (generally under NT$200,000 for goods or NT$100,000 for services) may be approved to skip GUIs and pay 1% business tax assessed by the tax office.
  • Exports and certain services provided to foreign customers can be zero-rated.
  • Dates are often written in the ROC calendar (e.g. 115/10/28 = 2026/10/28). Keep GUIs and accounting vouchers for at least 5 years.
